The Investment Studies Center (ISC), the training arm of Union of Investment Companies (UIC) held a training program on "Developing Leadership Skills for Managers", over the course of two days, 5th & 6th June 2024, at UIC premises, where the program was presented by Dr. Arezou Harraf, who holds a PhD in Technology Management and Human Resources Training and Development, heads the Business Studies Department at Boxhill College in Kuwait, and is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at the American Chamber of Commerce in Kuwait.
In this context, UIC stressed that the program was carefully designed to provide managers with the necessary leadership skills to lead teams effectively, stimulate productivity, and enhance institutional success, ensuring efficiency in performance and achieving the desired goals, while emphasizing the vital role that effective leadership plays in making thoughtful decisions reflecting positively on the productivity of the company and its ability to reach its goals.
The program included a variety of topics, as it began with an introduction to leadership theories and methods, reviewed the main characteristics of successful leaders, then addressed basic leadership principles and the importance of developing self-awareness and emotional intelligence necessary for effective and successful leadership. In addition, it provided a comprehensive and in-depth definition of effective communication techniques, that inspire and motivate teams, and the strategies needed to build and lead high-performance teams.
The program also focused on developing conflict resolution and negotiation skills, enhancing cooperation and decision-making among participants, promoting a culture of accountability and striving for continuous progress, and constructive feedback techniques and mechanisms were discussed to achieve the best results.
Through practical exercises and realistic case studies, the participants were able to gain valuable insights and strategies to enhance their leadership effectiveness in an interactive atmosphere that contributes to enriching experiences and broadening their horizons, providing them with the opportunity to ask and answer their questions and inquiries, and ensuring that they obtained the maximum benefit desired from the program.
