Investment Studies Center (ISC), the training arm of Union of Investment Companies (UIC), organized a specialized training program entitled “Advanced Financial Modeling & Forecasting” during the period 19th – 23rd May 2024, at UIC premises. The program was presented by Mr. Alaa Ghanem, the financial and economic expert and CEO of Advisory and Business.
The learning methods presented in this training program were based on 20 years of experience in building financial models and preparing forecasts for listed companies and private companies in Kuwait, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Middle East and North Africa region, which helped participants to be capable professionals of analyzing data effectively, and make wise decisions in light of the increasing complexity of financial markets and the need for accurate forecasts, as advanced financial models allow institutions to create detailed projections and forecasts that can help them plan for the future, identify potential risks, and optimize their resources. By mastering these skills, individuals can enhance their career prospects and shine in the competitive job market.
From this standpoint, the focus of this program was on providing trainees with skills in building comprehensive financial models from the beginning, converting qualitative factors into quantitative data usable in the model, developing relationships and ratios using the Excel program, and preparing forecasts for each item in the main financial statements (income statement). , the balance sheet, and the movement of cash flows), analyzing the internal and external factors affecting the company’s performance, including macro factors (economic, political, and social) specific to the company itself, building different scenarios to predict future financial results, and using and analyzing financial ratios to make accurate predictions.
These valuable skills provided by the program have benefited many workers in the financial field, including (stock analysts, financial advisors, investment portfolio managers, financial risk experts, risk capital specialists, and also management consultants).
