The Investment Studies Center (ISC), the training arm of the Union of Investment Companies (UIC), in cooperation with the Institute of International Financial Analysts, organized a training program on "Liquidity and Treasury Risk Measurement & Management" over a period of six days, starting from November 17th to 24th November 2022, for candidates of investment companies and banks, where the program was presented by Mr. Jack Bilalian.
Mrs. Fadwa Adel Darwish – Vice Secretary General & ISC Acting Director stated that during the program various methods of measurement, management and control of liquidity and risks related to asset and liability management were reviewed. The objective of this course was designed to help participants gain an in-depth understanding of the different mechanisms of liquidity risk and asset-liability management from a banking and investment firm perspective.
During six training days, the attendees’ skills were identified and increased in several areas, including the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Fixed Funding Ratio (NSFR), Early Warning Indicators (EWIs), Debt Maturity Management Techniques, Contingency Financing Plan (CFP), and Testing liquidity risk stress, balance sheet management, in addition to other essential topics.
Practical cases and examples from the reality of our investment companies and banks in Kuwait were presented, which are based on concepts and scientific foundations, and compared with what is in force at the international level.
In conclusion, this course was designed to lead to interactive discussions among the participants with practical case studies and examples based on the presentation materials.
