Over a period of three days 01st – 03rd November 2022, Investment Studies Center (ISC), the training arm of Union of Investment Companies (UIC), organized the training program "Emerging Manager Program" to assist managers and leaders in companies to improve and develop the work environment and raise their leadership efficiency.
Mrs. Fadwa Adel Darwish, Vice Secretary-General & ISC Acting Director, stated that as part of the endeavor of UIC to keep pace with all developments that concern the investment sector and the importance of activating the role of leaders in investment companies, this course came to develop the leadership capabilities of new managers and to familiarize them with the requirements and skills required for leadership development, in order to enable them to place the appropriate practical frameworks, how to deal with their teams, the tasks assigned to them, and the goals set by the leader for success. The program was presented by Mr. Hagop Emrazian - who has more than 27 years of global professional experience in training and corporate development and is an international expert in leadership development and executive training.
The training course came to explain the most prominent points that revolve around the manager’s self-leadership, understand the personal motives that lead him to achieve success in his position, identify the competencies that characterize the manager to succeed in his work, determine the requirements for leadership roles and what skills are required for each stage of leadership development, in addition to clarify the difference between a leader and a manager.
Then, Mr. Emrazian shed light on how to lead people through different communication methods, how to manage a team and deal with individuals with difficult behaviors. The use of emotional intelligence and managing relationships with colleagues in order to maintain a balanced method of communication were also discussed. The participants were also briefed on the basics of performance for the success of institutions, how to set goals and expectations, as well as performance evaluation procedures.
The course was concluded by highlighting transformation and change management and defining it as an organized approach to transfer individuals, groups and institutions from the current state to the desired future state, to achieve or implement a strategic vision for the company. The positive and negative aspects of change were presented, and how the manager and the leader deal with diversity and differences between team members.
At the end of the course, the lecturer summarized that a successful leader is a leader who can manage diversity among individuals and behaviors within a single work environment.
